Take Me Away
In the quiet, enigmatic stillness of two forests—Rendlesham in Suffolk and Dechmont Law in West Lothian—mysterious encounters unfolded that have puzzled and intrigued UFO enthusiasts and skeptics alike. These two woodlands, separated by hundreds of miles, share an uncanny connection through tales of strange lights, hovering orbs, and inexplicable phenomena.
These spherical phenomena were researched while studying how round glass beads are manufactured. Through extensive experimental writing, the following play was developed:

The Rendlesham Forest Incident
The winter of 1980 was unusually cold in the quiet corner of Suffolk where Rendlesham Forest stretches its ancient, shadowy limbs. On the night of December 26th, U.S. Air Force personnel stationed at nearby RAF Woodbridge witnessed lights descending into the forest. Intrigued and alarmed, a small team ventured into the woods, their flashlights flickering against the encroaching darkness.
As they moved deeper into the forest, the men reported encountering a glowing object, pulsating with bright colors—blue, red, orange—like a beacon from another world. The object hovered silently, casting an eerie glow that painted the forest in surreal hues. One of the airmen, Jim Penniston, claimed to have approached the craft, feeling its smooth surface etched with strange symbols.
Over the next few nights, the lights returned. Orbs of light danced among the trees, eluding any logical explanation. The events were meticulously documented by Lieutenant Colonel Charles Halt, whose audio recordings of the night add a chilling authenticity to the encounter.
The Dechmont Law Encounter
Four years earlier, in the serene woodland of Dechmont Law, West Lothian, a similar encounter had left its mark. On November 9, 1979, forestry worker Bob Taylor ventured into the forest on a routine morning walk. The woods were quiet, with only the rustling leaves whispering secrets long buried.
Suddenly, Taylor came upon a large, spherical object hovering in a clearing. The craft, resembling a metallic dome, emitted an unearthly light. As Taylor approached, smaller spheres, like sentient orbs, emerged from the larger object and rolled towards him. They latched onto his trousers, pulling him to the ground. Taylor later described a sensation of suffocation before losing consciousness. When he awoke, the objects had vanished, leaving only strange marks on the ground and on his body.
A Connection Through Light and Mystery
The common thread weaving through these encounters is the presence of mysterious lights and orbs—beacons in the night, linking Rendlesham Forest and Dechmont Law in a tapestry of the unexplained. These encounters share more than just eerie similarities; they bind the two woodlands in a narrative that transcends time and geography.
The ancient trees of Rendlesham and Dechmont Law stand as silent witnesses to these phenomena, their leaves whispering stories of light in the darkness, of orbs that defy earthly logic. The forests, steeped in history and natural beauty, have become sanctuaries of the inexplicable—a reminder that, in the depths of the woods, the boundary between the known and the unknown is often just a flicker of light away.
As these tales continue to captivate the imagination, they also invite us to ponder the mysteries of our universe. What secrets do these lights hold? Are they visitors from another world, or manifestations of something we are yet to understand? The forests of Rendlesham and Dechmont Law remain, their mysteries woven into the fabric of the night, waiting for those who dare to seek the light.
